Stilbaai is a charming seaside village and forms part of the famous “Garden Route”. With its close neighbours Jongensfontein and Melkhoutfontein. Situated along the banks of the Goukou River estuary. Where it meets the Indian Ocean on the Southern Cape coast of South Africa. Stilbaai can be reached by road and lies 26 kilometres from the N2 main road. The turnoff between Mossel Bay and Riversdale. Stilbaai can also be reached by air and sea. George Airport is 150 km to the east. The local airstrip for small aircrafts as well as a fishing harbour.

Stilbaai is the perfect holiday destination. Where, thanks to the shallow bay and the clean sandy beaches, (4 has Blue Flag status during the December – January). The lagoon and the 15 kilometers long navigable Goukou river. Every kind of water-related activity is available. Like swimming, sunbathing, surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing, angling, walking, sailing, canoeing, boating and waterskiing.

Other sports like golf, tennis, bowls, “jukskei”, squash, cycling and mountain biking can also be played.

All the necessary services like medical and supply services which include two franchised grocery shops, many restaurants, take-away food outlets, clothing shops, beauty salons, gift shops, hairdressers and sport shops.

Despite the rapid development in Stilbaai and Jongensfontein, well-balanced commercial interests are maintained and our natural environment is fervently protected. The permanent population of Stilbaai and the two adjacent villages, Jongensfontein and Melkhoutfontein, is approximately 7000.

Although the popularity of Stilbaai as one of the best tourist destinations on the Garden Route has been well established and is ever-increasing. It remains a pollution-free and most importantly a safe and peaceful place to be.

JONGENSFONTEIN

10Km west of Stilbaai, this little hamlet is one of the most popular holiday resorts along the Garden Route. Jongensfontein offers spectacular views of the ocean. Accommodation facilities of a very high standard, include a caravan park on the beach front, self catering houses and flats, B+B’s and guesthouses. Facilities and services like shops that also provide take-away foods and ATM. The waves at Jongensfontein are very popular among surfers while fishing, swimming, snorkeling and scuba-diving can also be enjoyed. The “Fonteinhuisie” is a historical landmark and serves as museum that depicts the history of the town.

MELKHOUTFONTEIN

Situated about 7 Km inland from Stilbaai. Not too many years ago this township was amongst the poorest places in the country. Today Melkhoutfontein has a proud heritage and is blooming with tourism activities. Connect to people, with the promise of heart-warming un-staged intra-cultural encounters. These include a local walkabout tour and Cooking up mouth watering traditional food with the Kamamma. With comfortable and affordable accommodation.
